SCORE Naples participates
in two trade shows:
Last week SCORE had a booth at both the Naples Chamber of Commerce's Tradeshow
in the Tropics event and the EDC's business seminar and expo. Both events were
held at the Naples Beach Hotel & Golf Club. Marketing events like this help
spread the word about SCORE's services.

the Small Business Resource Network (SBRN): SBRN started
in Jacksonville, FL as a resource
for small
businesses in need
of
assistance from
regulatory agencies, non-profits and for-fee professional service
providers. The network focuses on the core professions that
are a basic need of any small business. These professions include
banking
and finance, law, insurance, consulting and accounting. Additionally,
agency representatives from regulatory offices and relevant non-profits
are included to better serve our small business community. The
underlying mission is to provide a network of legitimate professionals
with verified certifications and ties to the local community
in order to help meet the needs of small businesses.
SCORE and the SBDC are participating together to help grow this professional network. Butler
4 Pets
We'll pick up the poo, so you don't have to!
SCORE client Maureen Butler has a sh*tty job, litterally! She is owner of Butler 4 Pets, a full-service dog and cat waste removal service, servicing the homes of pets in Collier County. Maureen's 'entre-manure-ial' spirit is helping her cash in by doing the dirty work for pet owners that might otherwise be too pooped to scoop! Maureen's client list includes Ericka Basile, publisher of Naples Dog magazine, one of many satisfied clients who really looks forward to Maureen's regular visits. At first you may not think this business model passes the sniff test, but one couple turned their pet waste business into a $70 million dollar franchise. Not properly disposing of pet waste can have negative health and environmental impacts.
Maureen worked with SCORE counselor Henry Rambacher, who suggested Maureen expand her services to cats as well as dogs and consider offering other services as well in order to increase sales. Maureen took that advice to heart and now offers pet sitting and pet walking services as well as sanitation services for cats.
