a Business

Now that you've started your business, you are probably finding that there is a bit more to it than you first originally thought!

Not to worry, we have some tips and resources that can help you navigate those new and uncharted waters.

As always, make use of your local SCORE counselors to bounce ideas off and to get a second opinion on important issues.

Business.Gov has a Managing your Business section which leads you through a variety of topics you will encounter as you run your small business. They also have a general employee section on the legal and bookkeeping aspects of hiring employees.
www.careerandservicecenter.org is a one-stop center designed to help match employers and job-seekers together and obtain training for these new workers.

Florida companies may be able to receive local funding assistance for skills upgrade training for their employed workers. For more details, see the training grants section for employers at: www.employflorida.com (actual page is www.employflorida.com/traninggrants.asp, but registration may be required to access page)

Two such grant programs are:

The Quick Response Training Grant (QRT) provides reimbursement for training expenses for companies that have exportable goods or services and are creating new full-time jobs. For more details, see: www.workforceflorida.com/wages/wfi/employers/qrt.htm

The Incumbant Worker Training Program provides training grant monies to existing small businesses to help keep companies competitive. For more details, see: www.workforceflorida.com/wages/wfi/employers/iwt.htm
