SCORE Naples Really Scores! SCORE Naples Workshops Help Local Entrepreneurs SCORE Naples is most noted for its helpful, free face-to-face counseling to business people in the Collier and South Lee County areas. But SCORE’s education initiatives have been another way the all volunteer group reached out to help both new and existing businesses. SCORE Naples has just concluded its twenty-seventh education event of its fiscal year. In all, 643 people have attended the various workshops, roundtables and presentations put on by the Chapter’s members and outside speakers. Topics and formats varied from three hour Saturday Seminars on the Basics of Marketing, Financing, Business Plans and Website Creation to roundtable discussions on the Challenges and Opportunities in the current tough economic climate. And, most importantly, those 643 people went away satisfied! Out of a possible perfect score of 5, the workshops averaged 4.62 on overall content satisfaction and the presenters averaged an impressive 4.79 out of 5. "Ask SCORE by Gray Poehler" American Recovery and Reinvestment Act The American Recovery and Reinvestment Act provides the SBA with $375 million to temporarily eliminate loan fees and raise guarantee limits to 90 percent on most types of 7 (a) loans, the most basic and most used type of SBA’s business loan programs. It also temporarily eliminates 504 loan fees for both borrowers and lenders. The 504 loan program provides growing businesses with long-term, fixed rate financing for major fixed assets, such as land and buildings. The SBA estimates these provisions will apply to approximately $8.7 billion in 7 (a) loans and $3.6 billion in 504 loans through calendar year 2009.
